Make your own Customized Self-Extractable Installer
I will today tell you how to make your own customized self-extractable installer which can self-extract the packed files in it without the need of any software. To do it, follow the tutorial below:-
1. Download WinRAR from here. (If you already have WinRAR, skip this step.)
2. Zip the file that you want to pack in the installer and open it in WinRAR.
3. Click SFX on the top and select “Advanced SFX options”.
4. Type the path in which the files should be extracted in the “Path to extract” box.
5. Click on the “Text and icon” tab and type the title of the installer in the “Title of SFX window” box.
6. Type the text to display in the installer in the “Text to display in SFX window” box.
7. Click on OK, two times.
8. Now it will automatically create the installer in the same folder the zipped file is.
9. Open the installer in Resource Hacker and goto Bitmap>101>1049.
10. Click on Action>Replace Bitmap>Open file with new bitmap and select the image you want to display in the installer.
11. Go to Icon Group>100>1049 and click on Action>Replace Icon>Open a file with new icon.
12. Browse the icon you have and double-click on it.
13. Go to Dialog>STARTDLG>1049.
14. Customize the dialog to the way you like.
15. Once you have customized the installer, save the file.
Now test the installer if it works or not.
