Change Windows XP Serial Number without Reinstalling
If you want to change your Windows XP serial number without formatting and reinstalling it, then follow the tutorial:-
1. Type “regedit” (without quotes) in “Run” and press enter.
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents.
3. On the right-side, double-click on OOBETimer.
4. Change at least one digit in the Value data text box and click OK. Now Windows XP will be deactivated.
5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Type %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a in Run and press enter.
7. When Windows Product Activation will appear, then choose “I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows” and click Next.
8. Click Change Product Key.
9. Type your new Windows XP product key in the “New key” text boxes and click Update.
10. If the previous screen appears then choose Remind me later.
That’s it. Now restart your PC for changes to take place.
