Disable System Tray Permanently

Some users might want to disable the system tray permanently. This looks ugly when you have too many icons in the system tray. Though you can hide inactive icons, it’s better to disable the system tray permanently if you don’t use it. To do it, you’ll just have to download this registry file and merge it. Now restart your computer and the system tray will be disabled.

Alternatively, it can also be done by modifiying the Windows Registry manually:-

1. Type “regedit” in run or start menu and press enter.

2. Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies.

3. Right-click on Policies and select New>Key. Name the key “Explorer” (without quotes).

4. Right-click on Explorer and select New>DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the DWORD value “NoTrayItemsDisplay” (without quotes).

5. Now double-click on “NoTrayItemsDisplay” and type “1” in the Value Data box.

That’s it. Now restart your computer and the system tray will be disabled. If you want to enable it again, simply delete the DWORD value or download this registry file and merge it.
