Disable Shut Down in Windows XP
If you are running a server then you may not want anyone to shut it down mistakenly. So here is a tweak which will prevent users from shutting it down:-
1. Type “regedit” in Run.
2. Goto
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer.
3. In the right hand side pane, right-click and select New->DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it as “NoClose“.
4. Double-click on the DWORD value and type “1” in the Value data box.
5. Goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer.
6. Repeat the steps 3 and 4.
That’s it. Now restart your computer for changes to take place.
You can also download the ready made registry script to do it:
To remove the tweak, just delete the DWORD values or download this registry script and merge it.
