Create a Hidden User Account in Windows
Windows 7, Vista and XP allows multiple user accounts to be created on the computer, it can be administrators or standard (limited) users. When there is more than one user account been defined and created on the PC, Windows will display the Welcome Screen, with all available user accounts listed so that the user can click and login. If the user account is intended to be hidden, there is a trick to do it.
In order to hide a user account (create a hidden user account), just follow the tutorial below:-
1. Type “regedit” in run or start menu and press Enter.
2. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
Note : If SpecialAccounts and UserList is not found, create a new sub-key and name them accordingly.
3. Right-click in the right side pane and select New->DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the new DWORD value as the name of the user account intended to be hidden.
For example, if the user name of the user account is Kishan, then the DWORD value’s name will be Kishan.
4. Double-click on the DWORD value and type “0” in the Value Data box.
That’s it. Now restart your computer and the user account will be hidden.
In order to logon into Windows using an user account that has been hidden, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and then type in the user name and password manually.
To display the user account on the Welcome Screen again so that it’s visible again, just delete the DWORD value that you have created in Step 3.
